| Available in Coupe and Convertible body styles, the 2011 Corvette and Corvette Grand Sport are both available in 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, and 4LT trim levels and both come powered by a standard 6.2-liter LS3 aluminum block V8 engine that pumps out 430 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque. Add the available dual-mode exhaust system and horsepower gets bumped up to 436. Transmission choices include a standard short-throw 6-speed manual transmission with launch control and an optional 6-speed paddle shift automatic transmission. With the manual, the Corvette can fly from 0 to 60 in just 4.2 seconds; Grand Sport models can do it in a blistering 3.95 seconds. Fuel economy is a praiseworthy 16 MPG city/26 MPG highway across the model range. Select models can also add Magnetic Selective Ride Control with Tour and Sport modes, which can be used to soften the suspension for city and highway driving and stiffen it for twisty roads. Coupes come with a standard removable roof panel; convertibles feature a standard manual top or an optional power top that raises or lowers in just 18 seconds. Even with the top down, the fully enclosed trunk is spacious enough for 2 golf bags. Additionally, Grand Sport models come with a wide-stance body with flared fenders, 6-piston front brake calipers and 4-piston rears engaging cross-drilled rotors, brake cooling ducts, high rear spoiler, and (on the Grand Sport Coupe with MT) a standard Z52 Performance Package that features a dry-sump oil system and differential cooler. |
